Recipe for Heart beef stroganoff

I was planning to make some food the other day and I really felt like making some beef stroganoff. But then I realized that good, lean, beef meat in Sweden is like €15 a pound. And I'm a poor student so that won't do. I almost replaced the beef in the dish for some cheap sausages before I realized:

If I'm going to eat ground up organs, why don't I just buy some beef hearts instead?

Now, some of you might find the idea of eating an animals heart disgusting. But it's not worse than eating liver. In fact, an animals heart is the cleanest and most lean muscle in an animals body. It also got more protein than a regular muscle and contains a lot of nutritious iron. It's pretty damn healthy. But the best thing about it is that it goes for like €3 a pound. If not less.

Well I made the dish, and it turned out great! So now I'm going to share this wonderous dish with all you loyal readers!

  • 1 Kg Cow Heart
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 50 cl Cream
  • 500 g Strained tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp of Mustard
  • Soy
  • Habanero Tabasco
  • Chili powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Oil

Mince the meat into small pieces. Cow heart needs to be prepared a certain way which can be seen here.
Make a marinade with oil, mustard, chili powder, salt, pepper and soy.
Toss the meat into the marinade and leave it be for about an hour or two.

Chop up the onion nicely and fry in a large pot.
Now add the the marinated cow heart and fry it until it gets a nice golden color.
Add the strained tomatoes, mustard and cream.
Add all the spices after your own taste.
Boil on a low heat for about 30 minutes.

Serve with rice!
